ABOUT US
St. Mary’s School is the oldest continually in operation Catholic
Elementary School on Staten Island. It was established in 1853,
by lay teachers, serviced by the Sisters of Mercy for two years
and from 1867 until 1987 serviced by the Sisters of Charity. Dedicated
Catholic lay teachers and administration, today, have continued
the tradition of St. Mary’s founders in servicing the educational
needs of the Rosebank community of Staten Island.
St. Mary’s School endeavors to develop the spiritual, academic
and social skills of all its students. The whole St. Mary’s
School community is dedicated to developing a strong sense of a
value-oriented life in its students. A conscious effort is made
to correlate various curriculum subject areas to the practice and
beliefs of the word of God. Students are to be made knowledgeable
in the value of mathematics, social human behavior through social
studies, the recognition of the true and beautiful in art and music,
the development of written composition skills and fine and gross
motor skill, and scientific knowledge through inquiry and the use
of technology for the betterment of mankind.
We provide a technologically integrated curriculum that meets the
academic needs of students of the new millennium. |
